Halifax council unanimous in support of wharf development
Halifax Regional council voted 21-0 in support of changing land-use bylaws to allow developer Francis Fares to build the proposed $300-million Kings Wharf development. The approval was required before the project on the former Dartmouth Marine Slips property could go forward. Kings Wharf would include cruise ship facilities, a 200-room hotel, condominiums, townhouses, 160,000 square feet of office space and 70,000 square feet of retail on the ground level. The developer's next step is to take the project to Dartmouth's community council.
